Workout Recap 25 Nov - 1 Dec

Monday
6 mile run (2 mile warm-up, four faster half mile intervals, 2 mile cool down)
This was the first time I've headed out with an interval plan like this. I found it really tough because because I'm used to just running slow and steady, but it did make the run seem shorter as it was so broken up!

Tuesday
Rest

Wednesday
1 hour legs, bums and tums aerobics class
Always good fun :)

Thursday
3 mile run
Tried out my new jacket from H&M - kept me so much warmer but I did sweat like a beast... maybe it's not quite cold enough for this yet...

Friday
7 mile run
I planned to do some faster intervals in the middle again... I didn't quite stick to the plan but I did manage to mix it up a bit which is more than I would usually do so I'm quite proud of that. I might have fallen over around mile 5 and looked like a complete idiot! Luckily the old gloves took most of the hit and I'm fine. Just a bit embarrassed and slightly annoyed no one stopped?

Saturday
3 mile parkrun (and jog/walk 3 miles to and from)
I love parkrun! If you've never heard of it you should soooo check it out. All over the country on Saturday mornings, loads of places hold free 5k runs - you get timed and everthing! This was my second one ever and I completed it in 28.31 (not beating my first one sadly). Check out the website here.

Sunday
3.7 mile run
Most of this was along the canal path and it was such a lovely morning for it.

Total mileage: 24
(roughly - not sure whether to count the jog/walk on Saturday?)

Pretty pleased with that :-D

Do you have a weekly mile target? Or just see how you feel each day?

Seven Random Facts

I've been thinking about the best sorts of posts to start with on my blog and have been drawing a blank! I think I'm just going to have to take a deep breath and go for it...

What better way than with some raaaandom facts. Here goes:

#1
I can't get enough porridge. Porridge with dried fruit, fresh fruit, seeds and nuts, honey and cinnamon or vanilla... you name it, I'll eat it! I must admit that I've caved a couple of times in the last few weeks and actually had two lots in one day. This makes me verrrrry guilty... but it's not like it's horrifically unhealthy or anything! (That's how I like to justify it anyway). But seriously, I think the onset of winter just makes me crave the warm gooey comfort of good old fashioned oats. Mmmm

(The porridge in this picture is a little runny for my liking and I'd definitely have more banana than that but I was struggling to find a decent picture... Might have to get on the porridge photography - if I can hold back long enough to take a photo!)

#2
I want to live in America, at least for a year I reckon. I'm not 100% sure why or where but I just reeeeally want to experience it.

#3
I ran a half marathon in March. Before last September I'd been running a grand total of 5 times in my whole life. Somehow my house mate convinced me that entering a half marathon was a good idea - to be fair I should give her massive credit for this as I have absolutely no idea how she managed. In the end though, I am soooooo glad she did. On 10th March 2013 we ran the Milton Keynes half marathon in 2 hours 14 minutes and I honestly think I am more proud of this than most other things in my life. It also turned me into a 'runner' and is partly the reason I've got really into this whole healthy living business. So thank you mad house mate!
(Sexy post-race face going on here...)

#4
I'm half Indian. Lots of people ask so thought I might as well get it out there from the start haha. I've been asked if I'm Spanish quite a few times which I find quite funny, but nope. My dad is Indian (although he's never lived there) and my mum is British and I've lived in England my whole life.

#5
I'm at uni studying maths and yes it is hard and yes I do sometimes think I'm crazy for doing it! However, I do love the satisfaction of solving problems and the complete out-there-ness of it all.

#6
I haven't eaten chocolate since the end of September. I enjoy the challenge of not eating it (I've done it before for like 3 months I think it was) and I've decided it's never worth the guilt I feel after eating it anyway. I know a lot of other foods aren't either, but I had to start somewhere. It's really annoying having to explain to people - I think I might just start saying I don't like it?

#7
I had never had cramp until this summer when I got it in my foot whilst swimming. I didn't get what all the fuss was at all... I understand slightly better now, although I haven't had it since and I'm not even completely certain it was cramp seeing as I don't know what cramp feels like! Haha confusing

So there we have it. Seven sort of random facts but sort of introductory facts about me.

Questions or comments are more than welcome :)

The Start

I've decided to start a blog, AHH!

I have no idea what I'm doing but I'm here to learn...

Aims of my new blog:

  • To give me somewhere to track my own progress
  • Record special events in my life
  • Record every day life goings
  • Provide a motivation for my own fitness and healthy living - if others are going to read about what I do I want to be proud of it!
  • Ultimately to get to a stage where I can inspire others

So here goes!
